Beautiful References Part 5: Architecture
12 amazing building of old European architecture to paint.
We’ve had a lot of flowers and this time I will be sharing a few spectacular buildings from my trip to Santiago de Chile to inspire some of your urban sketches and simply share these stunning remnants of old times.
Starting with the National Fine Arts Museum (the museum itself was rather disappointing but the building is gorgeous) and the adjacent Museum of Contemporary Art. Transparent domes invite so much light!
A few interesting to paint buildings during my wanders around the city:
Catholism alongside with esoterism coexist in Chile. You will see lined up tents with Tarot card readers but the next turn will take you right to a cathedral.
Right next to my Airbnb, there was a park with a hill, and a postcard-worthy terrace (Neptune Terrace) that is considered to be a little brother of the famous Trevi fountain in Italy:
And if you ever happen to be in Santiago, visit la Chascona (not allowed to take pictures inside) - it is a famous house by Nobel prize winner Pablo Neruda and it is a quirky and interesting house - it is shaped and designed a little bit like a boat! The story of his life is simply impressive as well (and you get an audio guide).
Do you personally like to paint nature or people, or buildings, or abstract? I think my fav is abstract, but I love to paint fruits too.
